Sixteen local students were sworn in by Rockdale County Superior Court Judge Sidney Nation on Oct. 19 for this year's Teen Court.
This court allows students to hear actual cases brought into juvenile court and see the process of hearing a case. Students take on all the roles of court personnel, from judge to prosecuting attorney to defense attorney to bailiff.
The court consists of students from all of the local high schools including Rockdale Career Academy and several private schools.
All the students are recommended by counselors or teachers and are required to have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Participating students are: Brianna Barkley, Salem High School, senior; Candice Biamby, Salem High School, senior; Tracy-Joy Bucknor, Rockdale County High School, senior; Amber Davis, Heritage High School, senior; Andi Dycus, Young American Christian School, senior; Zamar Griffin, Salem High School, senior; Justin Hardeman, Heritage High School, senior; Jaida Harris, Rockdale County High School, senior; Sebastian Moore, Heritage High School, senior; Kelsey Peeples, Heritage High School, senior; Alexis Redd, Salem High School, senior; Katlyn Smith, Heritage High School, senior; Dylan Veneziano, Young American Christian School, senior; Ilah Wiemann, Heritage High School, junior; Tyler Wilson, Heritage High School, sophomore; Zachary York, Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology, senior.
