Rockdale Career Academy and Jim N' Nick's Bar-B-Q are coming together once again in a tasty partnership for the 10th annual United Way BBQ fundraiser on Thursday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The event, held at the Rockdale Career Academy, is one of the biggest annual fundraisers for United Way of Rockdale, which has a goal of $324,000 this year.

"Thanks to the overwhelming support of the community, including our very generous sponsors, the event has continued to grow and raise significant dollars to put to work toward the betterment of our community," said Claire Cline, Director United Way of Rockdale County.

In addition to supporting the community, Jim N' Nick's professionals work with RCA culinary arts students directly and teach how to cater such a large event.

RCA students have spent this week preparing delicious dishes for the event.

Plates are $10 each and contain mouthwatering Jim N’ Nicks barbeque, side items, dessert, drink and a ticket for a gas grill drawing (for orders placed by Sept. 20). Supporters can dine in , take-out or get delivery for orders of 10 plates or more. To place orders, call 678-623-2890 or email rockdale@unitedwayatlanta.org.

This year's sponsors include Kroger, Coca-Cola, Publix, Lowe's, Atlanta Gas Light, Solo Cup, BB&T, Georgia Power, Cowan Ace Hardware, E. Smith Box Co., THP Printing, About Conyers Magazine, Edward Jones Investments, Signarama, United Community Bank, TK Graphics.

Cline added, "I especially want to thank Jim ‘N Nicks and the Rockdale Career Academy Culinary Arts Program for taking the lead in making this event happen. We could not do it without them, nor could we have a successful event without the many citizens and businesses who buy BBQ plates."
