Suspect killed in West Va. shootout after fleeing killing of Covington woman, Goodwill coworker

The suspect wanted for the shooting death of a 57-year-old Covington woman and longtime Goodwill employee was killed Tuesday evening in a shoot out with West Virginia Troopers.

Investigators were looking for 28-year-old Brandon Lamar Johnson, also a Goodwill employee, when they learned Johnson was involved in a shootout with authorities in West Virginia shortly before 5 p.m.

Johnson was identified as a suspect after investigators review surveillance footage and conducted interviews, according to a Fox 5 report.

The victim, 57-year-old Pamela Harmon of Covington, had reportedly been employed at Goodwill for more than a decade. Her body was found by a passerby Tuesday 8:20 a.m. near her vehicle in the parking lot of the shopping center with the Goodwill donation center on Georgia Highway 20 and Oglesby Bridge Road. She was found deceased with a gunshot wound according to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.
