IN BRIEF: Several stores on Dogwood Drive near the Carmike movie theater were temporarily evacuated Thursday while firefighters and gas crews checked out a suspected gas leak. Employees of Matress Firm and Staples waited outside in the parking lot and a perimeter was set up around 5:30 p.m. until about 6:20 p.m. The stores remained closed to customers after the perimeter was taken down.
