Speed limit reduction on Milstead Avenue

Motorists take note - the county is looking to reduce the speed limit on a portion of Milstead Avenue to match the speed limit of the road through the city of Conyers.

Currently, the speed limit on the county's portion of Milstead Avenue, from around Garner Road to Sigman Road, is 45 miles per hour while the city's portions are 35 mph.

The city is also looking to establish a bicycle and pedestrian friendly route along Milstead and requested the county to consider reducing the speed limit.

The Board of Commissioners will vote on the second reading of the ordinance amendment at the Feb. 22 Board of Commissioners meeting, 10 a.m., 901 Main Street.

Rockdale County Emergency Management received a $20,760 grant from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency for the WebEOC Fusion Project.

"It allows us to track resources in a multi-jurisdictional incident or event, including requests and responses," wrote RCSO Lt. Myra Pearell. Metro Atlanta area counties will be linked through this software.

The grant requires no matching amount from the county and covers two years of maintenance.
