They say small businesses are the backbone of the economy, and there is no greater champion for the issues important to local small business owners than the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce. But the Chamber's work doesn't affect just the business owner. When done right, it affects the health and well being of the entire community.
This year in our annual Back in the Day special section, we tell the story of how the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce was created to ward off potential economic disaster and to maintain the vitality of this community by bringing jobs and industry to Rockdale.
We also celebrate a few of the local small businesses that have stood the test of time.
During this season of NCAA tournaments, we look back at another shining moment on the court for the 1984 Rockdale girls basketball team as they went all the way to win the state championship.
And we take a look at a unique brotherhood of Rockdale's World War II survivors, tied in spirit with a bottle of spirits.
