Snapping Shoals announces grant recipients

Snapping Shoals, EMC announced its winning proposals for the Bright Ideas Grants for 2011.

A total of $15,000 was awarded in the program's fifth year.

The recipients in Rockdale County Public Schools are:

- Rockdale Magnet School of Science and Technology for authentic science and engineering experience for students
- RCPS improvement for District-wide middle school math and science competition teams: inspiring all students with academic extracurriculars
- Rockdale County Public School learning support for adapted softball program
- Rockdale County High School for Youth Assembly
- Pine Street Elementary, "I'm a star"
- CJ Hicks Elementary, "Graphically improving reading"
- CJ Hicks Elementary, "The sky is the limit"
- Barksdale Elementary, "Welcome to the movies: Character traits in action"
- Peeks Chapel Elementary, "Dance, sing and remember everything"
- Sims Elementary School, "Latin American music fiesta"
- Honey Creek Elementary, "It's electric"
- Lorraine Elementary, "Sowing seeds of learning"
- Davis Middle School, "For for the birds"
- Rockdale Career Academy Early Learning Center, "I am clay"
- CJ Hicks Elementary, "The sky is the limit"
- RCA, "Building visualization skills of architecture students"

A total of 66 proposals totaling nearly $100,000 were submitted for consideration this year.
