CONYERS - A man allegedly responsible for numerous burglaries across the state, including Conyers, was arrested by the Doraville Police Department (DPD) Wednesday evening.
Choice Phillips, 35, out of East Point, Georgia, was arrested after DPD responded to a security alarm at a local business. Philips fled the scene as police arrived and a high speed chase ensued.
Phillips eventually crashed on I-85 southbound ramp and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta to treat his injuries. He subsequently went to the jail in Doraville soon after.
Roughly $2,000 worth of beauty and hair supplies were located inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Also, clothing that matches the description of the burglary suspect that has been targeting cellular stores and beauty supply stores for months, was inside the vehicle.
Conyers Police (CPD) detectives secured a search warrant for Phillips' home where a multitude of smart phones, tablets, laptops, headphones and more hair and beauty supplies were discovered, Thursday morning.
According to CPD spokesperson Kim Lucas, Philips is wanted in connection to Conyers-related burglaries at RadioShack, AT&T, Metro PCS and a beauty supply shop in Rockdale County. All these incidents occurred in a two day time span from July 29 to 30.
"Great work by the Doraville officers who put an end to this suspect's crime spree," said CPD Chief Gene Wilson. "Our detectives worked quickly once we learned of his arrest and recovered items that could span across several jurisdictions. We look forward to assisting these agencies in closing their cases."
