Along with a talent expo, a basketball tournament and a live concert, the event showcases local authors, including 8-year-old Haniyah Harris, author of "Tanisha's Departure to School."
Haniyah became inspired to write and pursue publishing her own book after she saw her mother, Jamila Harris, publish a book and plan a conference. Haniyah decided to write based on her experience of leaving all her friends behind after the building of a new school in her area. She thought so much of the adjustments that she decided to write a story about the change.
