Scottish Rite JROTC honored

The East Side Scottish JROTC Awards Ceremony was held March 25 at Golden Fleece Masonic Lodge No. 6. East Side Scottish Rite President Michael H. Wilson said, "We are proud our community, proud of our students in our High Schools and look forward each year to recognizing outstanding JROTC cadets on the East Side of Atlanta." The Awards Ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Maria L. Britt, Commander of the Georgia Army National Guard; Col. Michael Steele, Black Hawk Down; Lt. Col. Steve Sims, Bronze Star Medal Winner, Georgia Tech ROTC Instructor; and Cadet Lacy Enyart, Bronze Star Medal Winner and ROTC Instructor from Georgia State University; and Leonard Buffington (Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in Georgia and the Sovereign Grand Inspector General for the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Georgia).

The award winners from Rockdale County were Cadet Taylor Shenae Dedrick of Heritage High School, Cadet, Rodiguez D. Manuel of Salem High School, and Cadet Robert H. Smith of Rockdale High School. From Walton County, the award winners were Cadet, Nicole A. Guined of Monroe Area High School, Cadet, Dwight W. Buchanan of Walnut Grove High School, and Cadet Courtney Stapp of Social Circle High School.

Cadet Taylor Shenae Dedrick was honored as the Cadet of Year from the East Side Scottish Rite Association.

All the awards recipients received Medals and Award Certificates from Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Letters of Achievement from Governor Sonny Perdue and Georgia Flags and Letters of Achievement from Secretary of State Brian P. Kemp. All Cadets received scholarships from the East Side Scottish Rite Association.
