The Salem Seminoles baseball team snapped its seven-game losing streak Monday night.
Salem defeated Cedar Shoals 6-0 behind a five-run fifth inning.
Jake Rich, Josh Webster and Zach Bailey all hit triples with Webster driving in two runs.
Bailey also scored a run and stole a base, Rich had two hits and an RBI, Webster scored a run and Cole Gibson added another run, stole a base and walked twice.
"For the first time all season, we had everyone available and things went according to plan," Salem coach Chad Kitchens said. "We had a couple of huge hits to get us going with three triples."
Salem had a solid performance on the mound from Garrett Needham, who threw six innings allowing four hits, while striking out two and walking three.
Eric Bechet closed it out, with a strikeout in one inning pitched.
"Garrett threw a great ball game and probably could have went the distance," Kitchens said. "Eric Bechet came in and shut the door, striking out one and coaxing two ground ball outs."
The defense was strong fro Salem as Reed Hill had five put outs and three assists, Ryan Read had a put out and an assist and Webster finished with four assists.
"I think the biggest reason for the success was that we took care of the baseball," Kitchens said.
Salem hosts Cedar Shoals Wednesday.
"We have to come back to work today with the same intensity that helped us get this win and play another strong game Wednesday," Kitchens said.
