Four pitchers weren't enough for Salem Monday as it still lost 8-1 to Loganville.

Garrett Needham started, going 1 2/3 innings, allowing three runs - two earned - on five hits, with two strikeouts and two walks.

Adam Hood gave up one hit in 2 1/3 innings, before Ryan Read allowed five runs in one inning.

Eric Bechet rounded out the pitching for Salem with 1 2/3 innings, giving up two hits and zero runs.

"We decided to switch pitchers often to mix up the looks and it seemed to help a little," Salem coach Chad Kitchens said. "But we have to hit and make plays in order to have a chance."

Zach Bailey had one hit at the plate and five put outs on defense for Salem.

"Although we didn't hit the ball at all, we still were right in the game till the fifth inning when they put it out of reach," Kitchens said. "We still made some self inflicted wounds that prolonged innings."

Salem hosts Loganville on Wednesday.

"We need to continue to work to improve overall and get ready for Wednesday," Kitchens said.
