Rockdale under tornado watch until 8 p.m.

UPDATE: A tornado watch is in effect for most of north, central and western Georgia, including Rockdale and Newton counties, until 8 p.m. Monday.

No Rockdale streets have been reported closed for flooding yet but the situation is being closely monitored, according to the county's deputy Emergency Manager and Rockdale County Sheriff's Office Capt. Myra Pearell.

(Oct. 1, 10:36 a.m.) Severe thunderstorms and the threat of isolated tornadoes are possible over parts of Georgia.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says the storms could strike Monday afternoon and Monday evening across north and central Georgia.

Forecasters say the main hazards from the storms will be isolated tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds.
