The National Weather Service out of Peachtree City has issued a flood watch for parts of north and central Georgia, including Rockdale County, for Thursday until 7 p.m.

"Widespread rainfall of 1 to 2 inches has already occured in west central and portions of central Georgia. Additonal rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches can be expected in the watch area through the evening. The area of greatest rainfall potential is generally south of a line from Buchanan through Cumming to Danielsville," according to the warning issued at 7:34 a.m. Thursday.

Soils are still wet from rain this past weekend and runoff from additional rain is expected to cause streams and rivers to rise.
