Rockdale Magnet teacher wins mini-grant

Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology biology teacher Alex Alvarez was announced as a 2011 Georgia Science Teachers Association mini-grant winner recently.

Alvarez is one of eight teachers eligible for the $500 mini-grant to fund classroom and school science projects. He will use it for "Growing" Real world educational experiences through a community-based greenhouse service project.

The GSTA Award winners will be honored at a special awards banquet on Feb. 18 at the Georgia Aquarium.
