Rockdale High School has been selected to compete in Downtown Locker Room's (DTLR) seven-on-seven Invitational Tournament hosted by Atlanta Falcons' Jonathan Babineaux and former NFL players Chauncey Davis and Daniel Wilcox beginning Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grady High School.
Rockdale is one of 10 teams selected, all from the state of Georgia. The event allows for exposure to top athletes from schools in Georgia. In last year's tournament the 2013 DTLR Invitational Tournament MVP, linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams, was offered a scholarship and is now attending the University of South Carolina.
"DTLR chose Atlanta because we've been very successful with the free skills camps we've implemented that more than 2,100 student athletes participated. Since some camps charge a fee to attend a football camp, we wanted to make sure as many aspiring football players had the opportunity to attend a camp with NFL players," Sherri Goodall, DTLR's community outreach manager, said in a news release.
"We now wanted to move into the direction of a new era in football - seven-on-seven. Our goal is to make DTLR's seven-on-seven the premiere invitational tournament where college recruiters can come and see the best student athletes in Georgia."
