The Rockdale Emergency Relief non-profit organization has two programs — a community food bank and housing retention and financial assistance program — to help those who have a sudden loss of income.
Saturday, June 26, the organization will host a Run for Relief for Rockdale Emergency Relief 5K at 7:30 p.m.
The twilight run beginning and ending near Whistle Post Tavern in Olde Town is designed not only to provide a fundraising opportunity, but also to bring the community together in a fun and healthy way.
"We really want to do something for the community while helping the community," Ashley Roesler Executive Director of Rockdale Emergency Relief said. "We’re hoping it’s a way for friends and family to do something fun and good for the body and soul."
All proceeds for the event go to helping the two community programs with a cost of $25 for 12-year olds to adults, $10 for 11-and under and $60 for a family of two adults and two children 11-years and under.
