Rockdale 4-H shines at public speaking competition

Fifty-two Rockdale County 4-H members in fifth and sixth grades competed for top honors at 4-H District Project Achievement this month. These 4-H members advanced to the District Competition after qualifying at the county contest in January.

Most projects required a five-minute demonstration with posters and props, while a few involved a four-minute performance or an hour-long food demonstration.

This District Competition took place in Newton County. Over 300 students from 10 counties competed that day. Rockdale County received the Outstanding Participation Award and was placed third with the highest percentage of winners and first place winners.

The top schools competing were Flat Shoals Elementary with 11 entries and Barksdale Elementary with 10 entries.
