The sweltering heat on the hottest day of the summer so far didn't stop Conyers' own Georgia Revolutions from battling the Chattanooga FC to a draw 1-1 in Saturday's homegame.
The game started out with the Revs falling behind after Chattanooga's John Carrier burried a shot in the top corner of the net in the first 15 minutes of the game. About 15 minutes later, Chattanooga found themselves a man down after a hard tackle on Riley Sumpter earned the Chattanooga player a straight red card.
The Revs went into halftime trailing 1-0.
The Revolution came out the second half fired up, however, as Kwado Poku scored in the first minute of the second half off a corner kick by Sean Grisham. Throughout the rest of the game, each team had several opportunities, but the score remained 1-1 at the final whistle.
The Revs next home game is today, July 3, against the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves. Revs are only ahead of the Silverbacks by two points. The Revs lost the last match up against the Silverbacks in Columbus, Ga. by a score of 3-1 and are seeking payback against the team that has handed them their only loss of the season.
The game starts 7:30 p.m. at the RYSA Soccerplex on Old Salem Road, between Ga. Highway 138 and Salem Road.
