CONYERS - The community is invited to a free county-sponsored health and job fair with information on programs and initiatives to strengthen individuals and community.

The Rockdale County Neighborhood Revitalization Task Force is hosting the free event on Sat., September 19 from 9 a.m. - Noon at Peeks Chapel Elementary School, 2800 Avalon Blvd., Conyers, 30013.

No pre-registration or RSVPs are needed.

For the job fair, participants should come dressed professionally and appropriately with several copies of their resumes. It is anticipated there will be some interviews on the spot.

Partners along with Rockdale County Government in this event are the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, LISC and the U.S. Department of Justice - Bureau of Justice Assistance.

This event is part of a targeted, collaborative effort to ultimately improve livability in Rockdale County. In October 2014, the U.S. Department of Justice awarded the County a major grant to develop a plan to address crime. This planning grant is being used to gather data, develop a strategic plan that will lead to crime reduction and community revitalization and engage community members and leaders to help shape ongoing crime prevention and revitalization efforts.

As part of these efforts, the Rockdale County Neighborhood Revitalization Task Force has partnered with the Board of Commissioners and Non-Profit Consortium Inc. to host this fair.
