Students and teachers across Rockdale and Rockdale County Public Schools will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week from Oct. 22-26 to promote smart decision making surrounding drugs, alcohol, substances and behaviors. Here are a few of the activities going on in RCPS schools:

Barksdale Elementary School
Monday: Live Drug Free! (wear red)
Tuesday: One School, One Goal! (wear school colors)
Wednesday: Don’t Get Mixed Up with Drugs (wear mismatched clothes)
Thursday: Don’t Get Tied Up with Drugs (wear tie-dyed shirts)
Friday: Drug-Free Pledge (wear seasonal shirt – orange or black)

CJ Hicks Elementary
Monday: Turn Your Back on Bullying and Drugs (wear shirts backwards)
Tuesday: Blow Drugs and Bullying Away (red ribbon balloons)
Wednesday: Sock It to Drugs (wear funny socks)
Thursday: Put a Cap on Drugs (wear caps)
Friday: Say No to Drugs (wear red shirts and blue jeans)

Flat Shoals Elementary

RCHS will celebrate Red Ribbon Week by decorating the outside of the building, hanging posters, providing information during lunch, and giving students the opportunity to experience the “drunk driving” goggles.

Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology
Monday: Wear red ribbons and learn about the impact of drugs based on a real story

Thursday: Public Service Announcement created by students

Salem High School

Wednesday: Ghost Out Day (the Grim Reaper will visit classes to collect the souls of students killed in drug-related accidents – students will wear white and paint their faces white)

Friday: Mock Car Wreck (students will enact a fatal car accident)
