Many Rockdale County voters don't need to hear the rest of the debates to know who they're voting for. Voters came out in record numbers for the first day of early in-person voting in Rockdale.

The turnout on Monday of in-person and mail-in absentee ballots was 5.31 percent of registered active voters, or about 2,633 voters. More than half of those were mail-in ballots.

Elections Supervisor Cynthia Welch confirmed this was a new record-breaking turnout for the first day of early in-person voting in presidential election year.

But, she also pointed out the in-person early voting period was shortened this year.

"Because early voting was reduced from 45 days to 21 days prior to an election, we expected a larger number of voters to early vote on the first day," she said.

Out of Rockdale's 18 precincts, the precincts with the highest turnouts on Monday were Stanton, with 6.34 percent or 171 votes, Flat Shoals, with 6.21 percent or 196 votes, and Honey Creek, with 6.18 percent or 128 votes.

The precincts with the lowest turnouts on Monday were St. Pius, with 4.41 percent or 84 votes, Magnet, 4.61 percent or 124 votes, and Conyers, with 4.68 percent or 113 votes.
