IN BRIEF: Rockdale County High School and Heritage High School both ranked on the Washington Post's national High School Challenge list for 2012. About 1,900 schools were on this year's list. The list looks at and ranks schools in the top 9 percent nationally according to the same measurement. RCHS was at 1243 and HHS was at 1829. RCHS had an index of 1.658, while Hertiage had an index of 1.074.
The index score is the number of college-level tests given at a school in 2011 divided by the number of graduates that year. Also noted are the percentage of students who come from families that qualify for lunch subsidies and the percentage of graduates who passed at least one college-level test during their high school career, called equity and excellence (E&E). A (P) next to the school's name denotes a private school.
