Ralph C. Vaughn, Jr. of Conyers, GA died Friday, June 17, 2011 at At Home Hospice. He was born on September 1, 1924 in Atlanta, GA to Ralph Clayton Vaughn, Sr. and Mildred Jolly Vaughn. He was a WWII Army veteran, supply clerk, expert rifleman and served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe CO 105WD 45. He received the following medals: Good Medal AR600-68, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, WWII Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. He was also a member of the local VFW Post 5290. Mr. Vaughn retired as a mechanic from Delta Air Lines. He was a member of the Bethel Christian Church family which served as his constant companion. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Margaret Inez Vaughn and two nephews, Larry and Jim Allen. Survivors include his sister, Caroline Page of Silver Spring, Maryland and several nephews and nieces and his special friend, Roger Cannon. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2011at the Bethel Christian Church Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ken Stokes officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Scot Ward’s Green Meadow Chapel.
