The Race Against Violence, held in October 2012, raised about $11,000, most of which was donated to Project ReNeWal, the domestic violence shelter for women and children serving Rockdale, Newton and Walton Counties. The shelter building was flooded and damaged by a malfunctioning sprinkler which dumped 18,000 gallons of water and ruined all the shelter’s donated supplies for families.
