The 2011 Race Against Violence, which saw over 160 participants, raised in excess of $6,500 with proceeds going to the Rockdale County Task Force Against Family Violence and Project ReNeWal, a shelter for vicitms of domestic violence and abuse.

Judge Nancy Bills, Chair of the Task Force, said that even in these tough economic times, the event was successful due to the tremendous amount of support from the community.

Aside from raising funds for Project ReNeWal, the race also helps raise awareness of domestic violence in the community.

Craig McCullough of the Olde Town Runners, said “This event epitomizes how a community can come together to enjoy fellowship while raising money, raising awareness, and maintaining a healthier lifestyle.”

Next year's RAV is scheduled for October 20, 2012.
