Rockdale voters will be called to come back to the voting booths for one nonpartisan runoff and two Democratic primary runoffs on Tuesday, Aug. 21.
Registered voters in all Rockdale precincts will be able to participate in the nonpartisan school board Post 5 seat runoff between candidates Tony Dowdy and Willie J. Washington. Dowdy received 46 percent, or 6,783 votes, while Washington recevied 23 percent, or 3,350, in the five-way race on July 31.
However, only voters who voted either in the Democratic primary or cast their vote with a nonpartisan-only ballot on July 31, or those registered eligible voters who did not participate in the July 31 primaries, will be able to vote in the Democratic runoffs on Aug. 21.
Early voting will be available at 1400 Parker Road on Monday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 14 from 8am to 4:30pm, and from 8am until 7pm Wednesday, August 15 through Friday, August 17.
The Democratic primary runoffs are for House District 92 and House District 113.
For House District 92, candidates Tonya Anderson and Doreen Williams will face off on after a five-way primary on July 31 where Anderson received 25 percent, or 1,088 votes, and Doreen Williams received 24 percent, or 1,061 votes.
District 92 covers the Conyers, Milstead, Sheffield and The Lakes precincts as well as portions of Flat Shoals, Hightower and Olde Town precincts.
For House District 113, incumbent Pamela Dickerson and candidate Sharon Sawyer were the two top candidates in the three-way race. Dickerson received 42 percent of the Democratic votes (1,959 votes) and Sharon Sawyer received 32.47 percent (1,512 votes) on July 31.
District 113 has only one precinct in Rockdale - Fieldstone. The district is mostly in Newton County.
There is no Republican primary runoff.
Voters must go to their individual precincts. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Sample ballots will be available online at www.rockdalecounty.org or at the Board of Elections office at 1400 Parker Road, Lobby C, Conyers.
