Just over the county line in Newton, Georgia Perimeter College's has a real gem - a state of the art baseball field that is as pretty and functional as any you will find in the country.
The person in charge of attracting players to play on that field of dreams is also a real gem; his name is Danny Blue.
Blue headed the baseball program for 26 years and the football program for eight years at Heritage High School. The baseball field at Heritage is named after him.
Blue led the Jaguars, who were projected at best to have a breakeven year, to a record of 38-14 and to the region's championship.
In leading his team, Blue was named the Georgia Junior College Athletic association coach of the year for his accomplishments.
One of Blue's coaches said, "he demands a lot from our guys and they respond," and as they say the proof is in the pudding.
Congratulations to the Georgia Perimeter Jaguars and to Coach of the year Danny Blue for your accomplishments.
