Post 77 Memorial Day ceremony Monday

On Monday, May 26, in the midst of grilling and summer activities, American Legion Post 77 brings home the true meaning of Memorial Day by honoring the sacrifice and service of military men and women everywhere with a ceremony starting at 11 a.m.

The ceremony at Post 77, located at 674 Legion Road, off of Ga. Highway 138, next to Green Meadows cemetary, will feature posting of the colors by the Post 77 Honor Guard, a 21 gun salute and Taps, and performances by Ron Lovin and Barbara Ramsdel.

The special guest speaker will be Roland Reagan, a World War II veteran and a member of the esteemed "Last Man" club, a group made up of local WWII veterans and a pact involving a bottle of fine cognac.

A luncheon will be served after. The public is invited to this free and open event.

Meet Our Veterans

On Sunday, May 25, a "Meet Our Veterans" event will be held 1 p.m. - 5 p.m  at  the Concourse Athletic Club, 8 Concourse Parkway,  Sandy Springs, Ga. Te event will recognize veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. 

The special guest speaker will be retired Marine Corps Maj. Gen. James Livingston. His talk will begin at 1 p.m.

At 2:30 p.m., Master Sgt. Carl Beck, a WWII veteran and paratrooper who landed in D-Day and Operation Market Garden, will give personal testimony.
