This year, even puppies are joining the fight against breast cancer. In observance of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Pampered Puppy is hosting Rockdale County’s first annual Pink Pooch Parade Oct. 6.
Four-legged and two-legged participants are invited to gather at 3 p.m. at the Pavilion in Olde Town Conyers and parade down Main Street for a final destination at Pine Log Park. There will be an afternoon of doggie fun with canine companionship, community outreach and numerous vendors. Everyone is invited.
Registration can be completed prior to the event at The Pampered Puppy, 953 Main St., in Old Town. Individuals can also register at the Pavilion on the day of the parade.
The cost is $25 per walker and this includes a T-shirt for each adult registration. Other items, such as doggie T-shirts and adult ball caps, will be available for purchase at Pine Log Park. All proceeds will go to the local Pink Patriots Team in support of the Atlanta Two Day Walk for Breast Cancer.
For more information, visit The Pink Pooch Parade on Facebook.
All dogs participating are encouraged to be decked out in pink attire. All dogs must be on a secure leash. A current rabies vaccination, along with a tag, is required. Dogs must maintain a demeanor suitable to interact appropriately with other dogs and people. Pink Pooch Parade organizers want this event to be a positive reflection of the compassion our community has for those affected by breast cancer.
You do not have to be a pet owner to participate. Spectators are encouraged to come out and watch the parade of dogs and their human families.
