The middle school students of Eastminister School are seeking the public’s help with their second annual Hands Across Rockdale project — a pet supply drive for Rockdale Animal Control.
The students are collecting donated items ranging from bedding to soap to be dropped of Saturday, April 13 when the community-wide Hands Across Rockdale event takes place.
“The students have a passion for animals and wanted to do it again this year,” said Hands Across Rockdale co-chair Karen Benton this week. “It spotlights the needs animal control has for these animals 365 days a year. Each year, we are hoping for this project to grow.”
Items needed include: cat and dog toys, dry food for both cats and dogs, kitty litter, bedding, Purex or any liquid detergent, bleach, Fabuloso cleaner, Dawn dish detergent and other soaps, Air Wick plug-ins and refills, Windex, paper towels, toilet papers, brooms, mops and large trash bags.
Donations can be dropped off on Saturday, April 13 at Rockdale Career Academy at 1064 Culpepper Drive between 8 a.m. and noon and at Rockdale Animal Control located 1506 Rockbridge Road from 10 a.m. to noon.
