Pennies for puppies

Program Challenge is the gifted education program in Rockdale County Public Schools. Students take part in an enriching and accelerated curriculum in addition to their regular academic curriculum. 4th graders had the opportunity to learn a PET SMARTZ course that introduced them to veterinary medicine, various animals, pet responsibility, and making a difference in their community.

Program Challenge students learned how spaying and neutering can help protect our pets, prevent useless loss of pet lives, and improve the quality of life for everyone in our community. They have teamed up with Hometown Animal Rescue to raise money through a fundraiser called Pennies for Puppies!

Hometown Animal Rescue Inc (HARI) will begin offering assistance to Rockdale citizens to spay and neuter dogs and cats through the current Spay/Neuter Program at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control (RCACC). HARI will pay from $20 to $35 per animal of the $40 to $75 charged at RCACC.

The funds are available to all Rockdale residents as long as the funds last. HARI hopes that the Pennies for Puppies fundraiser will generate generous donations from individuals and company donations to keep this campaign going for a long time.

Please donate your change or give what you can to support Rockdale's gifted students and help a great cause.
