Our thoughts: Monastery

By all accounts today should be a beautiful crisp Georgia Fall Day - just the type of day that invigorates the spirit and helps put that extra snap in the walk.

May we suggest you take that energy drive out to the 212 and visit the Monastery of the Holy Spirit.

The Trappist monks who built and keep up the monastery will be showing off their brand new Monastic Heritage center.

The monks first came to Conyers, Rockdale County in 1944 and since that time have provided a place of prayerful retreat and solace for all regardless of their religious affiliation.

The festivities today begin at 10 a.m. and will feature tours of the center and will include special activities for children.

There is no cost for this; later at 7 p.m. there will be a special concert lasting 90 minutes featuring the Atlanta Sacred Chorale and the Chorale singers.

While you're there, you may want to sample the many products the monks produce on site.

We are proud of our Monastery; more than 70,000 people a year stop by to visit and pray.

Enjoy a good treat today stop by the Monastery of the Holy Spirit. For more information visit www.trappist.net.
