Our thoughts: March

Edna O'Brien
When anyone asks me about the Irish character, I say look at the trees. Maimed, stark and misshapen, but ferociously tenacious.

March is a grand month to celebrate life in Conyers/Rockdale, and the highlight of the month is the annual St. Patrick's celebration held in Olde Town Conyers.

This year the event will be held on Friday, March 16 - a slight change in the good man's birthday celebration that we are sure he would approve of.

The annual parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. All - and we mean all - are invited to participate. There's no such thing as a spectator when you're talking about a two-block parade.

The grand finale, other than just hanging around and enjoying the pubs and restaurants of the downtown and visiting with friends and neighbors, is the 3rd annual running of the World's Shortest Endurance Run.

This 1/10 of a mile dash for glory is sponsored by the Rockdale Rotary and any profits made from registration or selling of shirts goes to support their many community projects.

If you would like a form, you can talk to any Rotarian, stop by the visitors center or go online to rockdalerotary.org
