We doubt that there would be many folks in Rockdale County who would deny that Dr. Samuel King led the school system forward to excellent results during trying times.

One of the strengths of a good leader like Dr. King is that you surround yourselves with equally good leaders.

It was for this reason that School Board members did not have to look far when they went searching for a replacement for Dr. King, who is now Superintendant of Norfolk Public Schools in Virginia.

The selection of Richard Autry, the Chief Academic Officer of RCPS, as our new school superintendent was a wise move. In picking Autry, the school board chose to stay the course.

We wish Mr. Autry every possible success because his success means our children will continue to be in a winning environment.
