COVINGTON - Cousins Middle School has been cleared by law enforcement as safe for students after a telephoned threat was received regarding the safety of the school.
According to Newton County School System Director of Public Relations Sherri Davis-Viniard the threat was received around 10:55 a.m. The school was then safely evacuated.
Parents were asked to not drive to the school for early pickup due to the need to keep roads clear for public safety vehicles.
The all-clear call went out to parents shortly after 11:15 a.m.
Last Thursday, Aug. 6, all Newton County School System (NCSS) schools were searched after a threat was made overnight on Facebook.
