IN BRIEF: Two new principals were approved by the Rockdale County school board Thursday night as the long-time heads of Memorial Middle and Hightower Trail Elementary transition to central office positions next school year.
Michell Glover was approved as the new principal of Memorial Middle School for 2015-2016. Glover, currently the assistant principal at Rockdale County High, would be replacing Andrea McMahan, who is moving on to become a Middle Schools Reading Specialist starting in July. McMahan oversaw the launch of the Memorial Middle School STEM Environmental Sciences Academy.
Penny Mosley was approved as the new principal of Hightower Trail Elementary for 2015-2016. Mosley, currently assistant principal at a DeKalb County elementary school, would be replacing Laura Bates, who has been prinicpal at HTE for about nine years nearly a decade and is becoming an Elementary Schools Reading Specialist starting in July.
Both were approved in an unanimous 6-0 vote; board member Tony Dowdy was not present.
