IN BRIEF: The Rockdale County School board unanimously approved the Superintendent's recommendations for several principal appointments.

Allison Barbour, currently principal at Sims Elementary School and former Assistant Principal at Conyers Middle School, was approved as the new principal at Conyers Middle. Current CMS Principal Torian White is leaving for a principal position at a middle school near Statesboro, Ga.

Barksdale Elementary's Assistant Principal Susan Norton was approved as the new principal at Barksdale Elementary.

Alex Guilford was approved to continue as the interim principal at Alpha Academy. Guilford had previously been an administrator at Open Campus.

Kara Kirchoff, the Interim Learning and Support Director, was made a more permanent Director of Learning and Suppport in the Teaching and Learning department.

During the Thursday evening Rockdale County school board work session, Chief Academic Officer-to-be Shirley Chesser and Assistant Superintendent-to-be Terrence Martin, a Stockbridge resident, were in attendance learning the ropes along with current Chief Academic Officer Leslie DeMarco, who is retiring, and current Assistant Superintendent Gene Baker, who is takng on the newly created role of Chief of Staff.
