During construction for the past year, the Nancy Guinn Library has occupied the lower level of the building while work progressed on the upper level. The main entrance will re-open to the public on September 21, at 10 a.m. but the Library will be closed Sept. 7 – Sept. 20 in preparation for the re-opening of the upper level.

Construction began last October to expand and renovate the 18-year-old library building. In order to stay open during phase one of the project, all library materials and services were moved to the lower level of the building, condensing into less than half the floor space previously used.

On Aug. 31, the newly renovated and expanded space will be finished and ready for occupancy. In the following weeks, new shelving will be delivered and installed, books will be re-shelved and furniture placed. All preparations will be completed within the two week period that the library is closed to the public.

Phase two of the project will renovate the lower level, and will begin in October. The current construction schedule projects an April 2010 completion.
