About 220 attendees gathered for the 22nd annual Freedom Fund Banquet on March 20 at the Georgia International Horse Park Carriage House organized by the Rockdale County branch of the NAACP, with the theme "Sacrificing for Education: Using Commitment, Conduct, and Character." The evening was highlighted by keynote speaker Tracye Hutchins of CBS Atlanta and awards, including the Gene Williams Community Service Award that went to Quilla "Nancy" Flanigan, and intercommittee awards to chapter Secretary C. Lyn Gibson and Vice President Gary King. Also recognized were special sponsors Wal Mart, Kia Automotive, Inc. and Georgia Power.
