State Court Judicial Assistant and Domestic Violence Task Force member Tammy Myers was awarded as the 2012 Rockdale County Employee of the Year at Tuesday's Board of Commissioners meeting.
Myers, who began working for the county in 2005, was selected out of six finalists as the individual who exemplified exceptional customer service, outstanding initiative and operational effectiveness during the 2011 calendar year.
She grew tearful as she accepted her plaque. "I never had gotten any type of awards or anything. I just want Judge Bills to shine or anyone else around me. It’s been easy to be an employee for her. I really appreciate this. This is a big honor."
State Court Judge Nancy Bills said, "The county is fortunate to have such a dedicated and loyal employee who is willing to go the extra mile on every task she undertakes. Tammy endeavors to help all who find themselves navigating the court system here in Rockdale County."
In her nomination application, Bills wrote: "Tammy is always professional and courteous and never approaches any assignment with the bureaucratic attitude of 'that’s not my job!' In my office, she wears many hats and has never once complained even though it has been many years since she has even had a cost of living increase. She is extremely efficient and is always seeking to streamline processes and to make changes when something isn’t working.
Tammy is most dependable and loyal and she always puts her best foot forward. Her integrity is without question and she has been known to 'confess' small mistakes before I can even ask her about them or discover them on the few occasions she has made an error of any type. As a small office, we are required to work as a team to serve the County and its constituents and I could not do my job as efficiently or as effectively without Tammy. She is truly an outstanding employee!"
The other finalists for Rockdale County Employee of the Year were: Will Barkley, Office of the Tax Assessor; John Cannon, Planning and Development; Brian Fix, Transportation; Doris Gervasi, Stormwater; and Gloria McGiboney, Senior Services.
