A case of parental involvement turned violent Aug 4 when an argument between a mother and daughter ended in blows.

The argument began when Shawn Stoutamire, 41, attempted to get her daughter, Shakita Cohen, 21, out of bed at approximately 1 p.m. Cohen reportedly yelled at her mother and said, "I want you to hit me. Go ahead and touch me."

The situation progressed from verbal to a physical fight with Cohen punching her mother before taking a mirror off the wall and hitting her with it.

After Cohen threw a VCR at her, Stoutamire reportedly ran to the kitchen and grabbed a kitchen knife. Cohen's father intervened and separated the pair.

Cohen was later arrested and charged with simple battery. Stoutamire was also arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
