It's time for monks and lay-persons alike to put on their running shoes and hit the trails in the third annual Monastery 5K Run and One-Mile Fun Run at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit to be held June 16.

The annual event raises funds for the Monastery of the Holy Spirit and their Food Bank Outreach. Designed to include all ages, the event will include a One-Mile Fun Run for the first time this year.

Prior to race, everyone is invited to join the monks for Community Mass beginning at 7am Saturday, June 16. The 5k race will start promptly at 8:15am and the One-Mile Fun Run will begin at 9am. An awards ceremony recognizing the overall male and female winners will immediately follow completion of the races.

Registration for the 5K prior to June 1 is $25, with the cost increasing to $30 thereafter. The One-Mile Fun Run registration fee is $10. Registration can be completed by visiting the Abbey Store or an application can be downloaded at revolutionrunning.net.

Following the race everyone is invited to enjoy food and drink and explore the monastery grounds. Highlights on the property include The Monastic Heritage Center, The Garden Cafe, The Abbey Church and Store, The Museum of Monastic History and The Bonsai Garden and Store.
