Mary Helen Eaves Joiner went to be with our Lord on Friday, January 14, 2011.  Mrs. Joiner was born on July 6, 1912, in York, S.C., the only child of the late George G. and Helen Eaves.

She is survived by her children, Don Joiner and his wife, Ethel, of Conyers, GA, Mary Helen (Tippy) Joiner Coats and her husband, Barry, of Conyers, GA, Vincent Joiner and his wife, Virginia (Ginny), of Douglasville, GA, Molly Joiner Hoynes and her husband, Taylor, of Cumming, GA, and was lovingly referred to as "Mimi" by her sixteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

As a young girl, Mary Helen received her education at Fassifern School for Girls in Hendersonville, N.C. and the Napsonian School in Atlanta.  She was a graduate of the Atlanta College of Art at the High Museum.

Mrs. Joiner was a loving mother who cherished her children and her Lord.  She had a heart for the suffering and those that serve the suffering at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home in Atlanta, GA, where she volunteered her services.  She also enjoyed serving those in need through the charitable organization Meals-on-Wheels.

She was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, in Conyers, GA where she served on the altar guild, taught R.C.I.A. classes, assisted the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, and where she faithfully attended mass.  Prior to her move to Conyers, she was a parishioner at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta.

Mary Helen was an active member of the Colonel John McIntosh N.S.D.A.R. for many years where she served as both chaplain and also chairman of the Constitution Week.  She enjoyed creating patriotic displays at the Nancy Guinn Library to educate the Conyers community on the importance of the U.S. Constitution.

She retired from the Federal Civil Service after thirty years service.  She also enjoyed using her talent and creativity as an Interior Designer.

Mrs. Joiner lived at the Remington House Assisted Living facility in Conyers for the last few years, where she was affectionately and tenderly cared for by their staff.

She was loved by so many and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2621 Highway 20 SE, Conyers, GA with Father John Kieran as celebrant; interment will follow at Honey Creek Woodlands, Conyers, GA.  Family will receive friends Monday, January 17, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home in Atlanta, GA.
