(Conyers, GA) - The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office is currently looking for two male suspects who robbed a gas station early Thursday morning.
The unknown suspects were armed when they robbed the Chevron at 2302 Ebenezer Road for an undisclosed amount of cash and numerous lottery tickets. One suspect was holding a handgun and the other wielded a shotgun.
The two suspects sped away from the scene, presumably at a high rate of speed, in a Lexus vehicle, says RCSO Cpl. Michael Camp, before crashing on the side of the road of Georgia Hwy. 138 near Owens Road, about two miles away from the gas station around 12:05 a.m.
"At that point, they abandoned the car and went hiding in the woods," said Camp.
Deputies were sent out to the woods to canvas the area, but couldn't find any signs of the duo. Eventually, the k-9 squad and helicopters were called on for help in the search, but traces of the suspects weren't discovered.
"We don't have any reason to believe they are still in the woods," said Camp.
The suspects are still on the loose. Their weapons were retrieved from the crashed Lexus car, however, Camp says that doesn't mean they couldn't be armed with other weapons.
The suspects were seen on the store's surveillance camera. One suspect is seen wearing a purple-colored shirt with what appears to be white pants and black gloves. The other suspect is wearing a red shirt with blue jeans and a black bandanna-like scarf covering his face.
