Rockdale County Public Schools announced that Hightower Trail Elementary math teacher Kim Manget is the 2014 Teacher of the Year.

The announcement came from Rockdale Superintendent Richard Autry Monday night before a packed auditorium at the Rockdale Career Academy.

Manget sat on stage among 21 other county teachers who had been selected as Teacher of the Year for their respective schools.

She smiled when Superintendent Autry called her name as Teacher of the Year. And she did not seem to stop smiling during the rest of the program.

"I'm very overwhelmed and honored," Manget said during a conversation with the News shortly after the event.
