One Conyers man was shot last week and another was taken into custody after an incident at the Tall Oak Circle Apartments.

On the afternoon of Dec. 30 Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a person shot. Upon arriving on the scene witnesses told a deputy that they saw a light-skinned black male run behind the apartment building after he fired two shots.

The deputy then went into the apartment in question and saw the 20-year-old victim lying on the floor with a bullet wound in his right knee.

The suspect, later identified as Shavon Rernard Robinson, 21, had reportedly knocked on the door earlier, which was answered by an apartment occupant, and asked for the victim’s girlfriend.

The girlfriend came out to the door from the back. The victim then also came out from the back and went to the door and argued with Robinson. According to reports, Robinson backed away from the door pulled out a handgun from his jacket and fired before running away from the scene.

The deputy reported there was a bullet laying in the dining room floor, and another in the resident’s bedroom, where it traveled through the wall from outside the front door area.

The victim was taken to Rockdale Medical Center and treated.

The girlfriend said she didn’t know the identity of the shooter but knew she was a friend of someone she knew.

Robinson was arrested hours later and charged with nine counts with aggravated assault.
