A Bishop man was killed early Thursday morning when he lost control of his vehicle on Interstate 20.

Dale D. Dion, 53, was heading eastbound near exit 101 in a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire around 12:30 a.m. in the outside lane of travel. He attempted to exit onto the off ramp and traveled into the gore area between the lanes, struck two metal poles and, as he continued onto the ramp, overcorrected, causing the car to rotate several times before striking the side embankment and overturning a number of times.

Dion was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the sunroof of the car. Toxicology reports are pending, but according to the Georgia State Patrol, alcohol is suspected to have contributed to the crash.
