Luther Milton McDowell, Jr. retired, age 90, of Jonesboro died Friday, December, 31, 2010.  Mr. McDowell was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Corley McDowell, daughter Mary Constance and son Robert Dewey.  He is survived by daughter, Julie McDowell & Jerry Dunn, Jonesboro; son Steve and Linda McDowell of Fayetteville; Brother in law John W. Gregory, Nashville; Sister in law, Hazel Jo & Bill Smith, Conyers; Grandsons: Thomas McDowell, Atlanta; Aaron McDowell and David McDowell, Fayetteville; eight nieces and nephews.  Mr. McDowell was a WWII veteran and retired banker.  He was very active in the community with his volunteer efforts including: Kiwanis club, American Heart Association, Chamber of Commerce and was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 3, 2011 at Scot Ward’s Harry White Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.
