In the coming weeks of March, several local restaurants will be participating in an effort to aid the Haiti earthquake victims, in a fundraising event called "Hope for Haiti." Among the restaurants participating are Chili's, Applebee's, Shane's Rib Shack, O'Charley's, and Café Milano. A percentage of all sales on the dates the restaurants will be fundraising during will go towards the cause.
Also 12 local artists and bands will be pooling their talents to help the hurting in Haiti with "Helping Haiti, Band Together," a compilation CD containing songs of hope, healing, awareness, and inspiration. All the proceeds go to aid the victims in Haiti.
A free benefit/CD release party will be held on March 6 at Zion Baptist Church, corner of Hwy 212 and Brown Bridge Road, featuring several of the artists. The cost of the CD is $10, but it will be sold at a discount of $7 at the party. The group expects to raise over $7,000. For more information, call Matthew Eldridge at (770) 364-3990.
